About

Multidisciplinary designer based in Newcastle. I love digital craft, new technology, and shipping experiences that respect end users — from research and systems to motion and creative coding.

Experience

  1. Experience design within Moody’s Analytics — shaping products for teams who need clearer tools around risk, compliance, and research workflows, from early discovery through delivery.

    • Green-field and incubation-style work for financial and compliance products, turning fuzzy briefs into shippable patterns
    • Design for shell-company risk offerings and broader platform initiatives alongside engineering and product partners
    • Advancing design system coverage, quality, and documentation so patterns stay consistent under real-world edge cases
    • Process and ways-of-working design to help teams ship faster without losing clarity or governance
    • Internal design advocacy, critiques, and virtual conferences that raise the bar for craft across squads
  2. Product design for a consumer Bitcoin app in a tight, UX-first team — shipping features fast while keeping trust and clarity at the centre of the experience. The product had to feel approachable for newcomers and precise enough for power users moving real value.

    • End-to-end mobile features and flows across payments, onboarding, security, and core product surfaces
    • Full-app redesign initiative to align UI, patterns, and brand as the product matured and regulation evolved
    • Clickable prototypes and proof-of-concepts for sales and partnerships, tuned for narrative and edge cases
    • Collaboration with marketing on animated collateral and campaign assets that matched product reality
    • Close iteration with engineering on feasibility, performance, and polish — especially around states and errors
  3. Platform and integration design for institutional cryptocurrency solutions — making complex APIs and control surfaces understandable for enterprise buyers and operators. Work balanced technical accuracy with narratives that survived procurement, security review, and live demos.

    • Integration site and partner-facing tools for API exploration, auth flows, and technical storytelling
    • Internal admin and control surfaces for operations teams managing large-scale deployments and incidents
    • Sales-enablement decks, narratives, and materials tuned for institutional audiences and compliance questions
    • Partnering with engineering on information architecture, states, permissions, and edge-case handling at scale
  4. UI art for Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR (Meta Quest) — a full-length series entry built for wire-free VR. In a focused 2021 stint I contributed HUD and diegetic interface work that had to stay readable across parkour, stealth, and combat without breaking immersion.

    • HUD and in-headset UI tuned for long sessions: comfort, motion, and clarity constraints baked into layout and type
    • Close collaboration with UX, design, and engineering on legibility, feedback, and VR-specific interaction patterns
    • Iteration on hierarchy, iconography, and states so interfaces survive fast movement, low light, and combat chaos
    • Polish passes on diegetic elements so UI feels part of the world while staying scannable in seconds
  5. Agency-side product design at Komodo Digital — shipping interfaces for client teams in fast discovery–delivery cycles across sectors, from startups to established brands. Work spanned research, UX, UI, and handoff with a strong bias toward demos that make alignment cheap.

    • End-to-end UX and UI for web and mobile products under tight client timelines and shifting priorities
    • Workshops, prototyping, and clickable demos to align stakeholders and de-risk build before engineering commits
    • Design systems and component thinking reused across engagements so quality didn’t reset every sprint
    • Handoff, QA, and iteration with developers to preserve hierarchy, motion, and edge cases in production
  6. Product design for Hive HR’s employee engagement platform — features used at scale to help teams measure morale, act on feedback, and stay connected. I focused on flows that stayed humane under load: busy managers, frontline staff, and hybrid schedules.

    • Flows and components for surveys, pulse checks, insights, and manager tooling with clear empty and error states
    • Accessibility and clarity for diverse workforces, roles, and device contexts (including low-bandwidth mobile)
    • Design system contributions as the product surface grew — patterns for charts, notifications, and permissions
    • Collaboration with PM and engineering on rollout, experiments, and iterative improvements from usage data
  7. UX and product design for cybersecurity tooling — making complex threat, asset, and configuration data scannable for analysts and IT teams who live in high-noise environments. The goal was always faster orientation: what matters, what changed, and what to do next.

    • Information architecture for dense datasets, alert streams, and cross-product navigation without dead ends
    • Patterns for status, severity, filtering, and drill-down that stay calm under incident pressure
    • Collaboration with SMEs to validate language, workflows, and edge cases so copy matched real operations
    • Iteration on tables, timelines, and detail views so power users could skim without losing fidelity
  8. High-intensity build events and open-innovation formats — rapid prototyping, pitching, and cross-discipline collaboration with industry partners. These sprints trained muscle memory for scoping ruthlessly, pairing with engineers, and shipping a credible story before the timer hits zero.

    • Hackathons with Atom Bank, Meta (Facebook), and other partners — from problem framing and research synthesis to demo day
    • Turning sketches and storyboards into clickable proofs overnight, with clear roles and handoffs in the room
    • Winning placements where juries valued both idea and execution — UX, UI, and narrative hanging together
    • Presentation, storytelling, and critique skills that still shape how I workshop with product teams today
